Well it’s official GEXCon 2018 has come, and now it is over. We did it, and I’d say we did it pretty damn well.
I’m now going to gush over all of the people and organizations that made this possible. Feel free to skip to the part that is about you because this won’t be short. It’ll give you idea of the number of people and groups it takes to pull this off though, which is pretty cool.
GEXCon 2019 will be held at the Dulles Expo Center on June 28-29, 2019.
We hope to see everyone back for another great event.
First up, I’m going to take a moment to thank the wonderful Amanda Sale (@BabySale) for the amazing job she did by creating all of the Mod shirts. I know I personally had a number of people ask me if they could buy one; which I’d love to sell all of our Mod shirts but ultimately we need totally different ones so there isn’t any confusion as to who you can go to right away for things.
As a whole, you guys are my backbone and I couldn’t hold any event without you. Building doesn’t have internet for an entire set-up day, you guys are on it. Cosplay needs props checked , you guys recruit people to help. Handling the volunteers and temp help, assisting with the new vendor load-in and -out procedures because of new security measures, the list seriously goes on.
I could write up a paragraph about how much I appreciate each and every one of you, but for the public form of this, just know that your help means everything to me.
The Moderator Team: Charles (AdjentC), Amanda (BabySale), Dennis (DaOG), Grant, Dan (dmr83457), Kat (Firekitty42), Sam (Jin), Greg (MelchioR), Colby (Colby_Attack), Dalton (Dwaller), Lacey (LaceyK), and John (Nan)
In the event that you didn’t get to meet this amazing group, you certainly should have. Not only were they helping bring a community that is often very hard to include, but they were also tearing it up rap battles at the hotel lobby in ASL. You guys are different from my Mod team and deserve your own praise. Obviously this was the first year we dealt with anything in the deaf community so there were loads of logistics we had to deal with. All of you were amazing and I know there were quite a number of people who really enjoyed having you guys at the event. Seriously, you guys were great and I can’t thank you enough for coming out!
ASL Team: Josh (Garbage_Lord), Carmen (Strawberry_Cee), Channing (carb0n)
You’re all a bunch of babes and we love everything you do. The end. Seriously though you guys are all amazing and I’m glad to have had the chance to talk and work with all of you. I know I didn’t meet all of the crew that came down but it really was a blast dealing with you guys. From Rob continuously saying “7am, right,” trying to convince me to get the CS:GO tournament started Saturday a full 2 hours ahead of when we’re allowed in the building, to me laughing at Nate’s woes of needing to turn into eBot, to Joel harassing me for my carts, to me lending over ‘my authority’ to Ali and Christy – for a brief moment.
The bottom line is that the final product of a N3rd St area will look and run great. I took note when these guys were working after a full day at 11pm on brackets and things in the hotel lobby. Seriously, we couldn’t have run this event without you guys and I appreciate each and every one of you!
N3rd St Crew: Nate, Griffin, Josh, Rob, Addy, Joel, Christy, Ali, Dallas, Dre, Rustay
Another year, another set of trials, and another great show. I know every time we end up working together it’ll be a fun event. Usually something goes wrong, but where is the fun if we aren’t fixing something and making things better the day of the event? As per usual, we talk about everything that’s going to happen at the event and then you guys just come in and execute so the most I ever have to do is send tech support for one or two things.
It’s always great hanging out with you guys and I apologize for not being able to talk more with all of you at the event. I know this won’t be the last time we do great things together!

GEXCon is VERY excited to announce that we will have an American Sign Language Table for Dungeons and Dragons! We are constantly listening to the community and looking to help bring the joy of gaming to everyone!

Last year we worked with Operation Supply Drop in order to get veterans to GEXCon and show them a great time. Turns out they loved it and want to come back. They wanted to come back so much that I’ve had some of their team members contact me individually, not the ones I met or worked with, to see how they could make certain that OSD came back.
When people show us that kind of love, we want to make certain they know how much it means to us!
So without further reading, Operation Supply Drop will be coming back to GEXCon! Their energy and organization is some of the best I’ve seen so make certain to say, “Hey,” to all of them.
